Biography

Born and raised in the Bay Area, California to a single mother I had a less than traditional upbringing that shaped me in ways I can only be grateful for.

My grandmother and I spent a lot of time together. I credit her to my introduction of (and appreciation for) many different arts. She took me wildflower picking in the Almaden Hills, and we'd press them into little booklets. She took me to art museums, played me classical and jazz music on the radio, drove me to my 11years of ballet lessons, encouraged a LOT of book reading and eventually gave me one of her old film cameras. Without that gift I may have never developed the skills and "eye" that I have today.

I had no clue how to use a film camera. I didn't understand aperture, shutter speed or even proper film care! Slowly, through a lot of failure, I got the hang of it and began snapping shots of whatever caught my eye.

In college I took a creative writing class where I befriended a group of young ladies who liked to hike into the golden hills of San Jose, CA with backpacks filled with costumes and photograph each other. I was invited along and quickly discovered that I did NOT like being in front of the camera but could not stop taking pictures. It soon consumed my thoughts.

I found and collected a group of aspiring models who came to me to diversify their portfolios.

During this time, I also began nannying for a lovely family in Saratoga. They allowed me to bring my cameras (by now I got a cheap little digital camera) and photograph their children, capturing their sweet candid moments throughout the days. These combined experiences would fuel my passion for years. Until the day where financial hardship hit my life. I pawned the camera gear I had collected over the years with the intention of buying it back. This was not to be. I spent 5 years with no more than a cell phone camera. It wasn't until I began hiking frequently and having deep conversations with a friend, that I realized what a hole in my soul there truly was. I missed photography.

Once again, it consumed my thoughts. Although photographing my daughters with my phone was a daily thing, it was not the same.

Then here we are today. I have everything I could ever have prayed for in my camera bag.

I am in it.

My dreams have come true. This might sound like one big story about ME but it affects YOU.

With me as your photographer you can guarantee that you are with someone who is passionate about their work. The tedious days and nights of editing are a pleasure and a privilege.

This is my dream... and your photos will represent that.
